Evolution of Human Skin Colour Essay Example for Free
Evolution of Human Skin Colour Essay Skin cancer can be caused by many things; the first is getting too much exposure to sun. The UV rays come in contact with your skin and reaction occurs which makes your skin tan or burn. The UV rays from just one sunburn can damage your skin and cause you to become more at risk of getting skin cancer. Another cause of skin cancer could be genetics, if your someone in your family had skin cancer the mutated gene could possibly get passed down to you and you could have a higher risk of developing skin cancer. One last cause of skin cancer is if someone has a lot of moles. If there are many moles some could be abnormal which means it is more likely that one mole could be or could turn cancerous. 2. Caucasians are more at risk of skin cancer than other populations because Caucasians have fair skin. Fair skinned people donââ¬â¢t have much pigment/melanin in their skin which means theyââ¬â¢re less protected by the suns UV radiation. Other populations such as African-Americans would be less at risk of getting skin cancer because they have lots of melanin in their skin to block the UV rays. 3. A lifetime of sun exposure will obviously increase a personââ¬â¢s chances in developing skin cancer so as you get older the risk increases. Most diagnoses are made when people are over the age of 50 but if someone is highly exposed to the sun frequently the cancer could occur earlier than 50. The incidence of skin cancer is greater in old age because someone who is older would have accumulated all the sun exposure over the years and someone who is younger would not have been exposed to as much sun which lowers their chances of developing skin cancer at their age.

Custom Written Essays: Contrasting Gertrude and Ophelia of Shakespeare
Contrasting the Ladies in Hamletà à à à à à How can anyone view or read the Shakespearean tragedy of Hamlet without observing an obvious differentiation between the characters of the two female characters? And yet, not all critics agree on even the most salient features of this contrast. à Quite opposite the criminality of the kingââ¬â¢s wife is the innocence of Ophelia ââ¬â this view is generally expressed among Shakespearean critics. Jessie F. Oââ¬â¢Donnell expresses the total innocence of the heroââ¬â¢s girlfriend in ââ¬Å"Ophelia,â⬠originally appearing in The American Shakespeare Magazine: à O broken lily! how shall one rightly treat of her loveliness, her gentleness and the awful pathos of her fate? Who shall dare to hint that she was not altogether faultless? One feels as if wantonly crushing some frail blossom in criticising so beautiful a creation, yet such is my thankless task. To my mind, Ophelia has been much over-rated by writers on this play of Hamlet, and when stripped of the glamor of Shakespeareââ¬â¢s magic verse and the lenient tenderness we give always to the dead . . .à she will be found a simple, shallow girl, pure and delicate as a snowflake [. . .] . (241) à Contradicting Oââ¬â¢Donnellââ¬â¢s view is some evidence that Ophelia is not innocent in her relationship with the protagonist (West 107). Moral concerns are in the forefront of any discussion about dissimilarities between the queen and the lord chamberlainââ¬â¢s daughter. John Dover Wilson highlights moral differences in What Happens in Hamlet: à His [Hamletââ¬â¢s] mother is a criminal, has been guilty of a sin which blots out the stars for him, makes life a bestial thing, and even infects his very blood. She has committed incest. Modern readers, living i... ...nd Notes on Shakspere and Other English Poets. However, it has been my experience that all types of learners find visual aids helpful, even f they are Just used as supplemental information to enhance the knowledge they gained through verbal communication. Visual aids, such as process flow charts, are excellent tools to effectuate meaningful and clear communication. According to Webb (2013), ââ¬Å"Sometimes it's more effective to visualize something graphically that it is to describe it with words. That is the essence of what flowcharts do for you.Flowcharts explain a process clearly through symbols and textâ⬠(Top 5 Reasons to use Flow Charts). Baby Bed-Time Comment on the factors that affect the process design. The three major factors that affect the process design are dependent upon the 1) the daily activities that the children engaged in, 2) the condition of their skin prior to bath-time and 3) the time their father arrives home from work. If the children have been outside playing or Interacting with others, they have be en exposed to harmful germs and bacteria. In this case, the children would need to be thoroughly washed, including their hair. When this happens I am able to get some homework done and he reads to the children before bed. Identify at least one metric to measure the process.According to Collins (2013): ââ¬Å"Quality metrics are commonly used by organizations as a way to measure the performance of internal processes ââ¬âspecifically, processes which are difficult to measure. The most common type of quality metric is called a Key Performance Indicator (KIP). Kips are used to quantify and measure and/or gauge the performance of operational goals that are connec ted to internal processesâ⬠(How To Measure Quality Metrics). In order to quantify the process flow chart, it is important to assign quality metrics to measure each stage of the process. These metrics allow the user to measure the effectiveness of the process and the efficiency of each step. As the purpose of this flow chart is to increase efficiency and process time, the most optimal production metric to use would be cycle time. According to Specific (2010), ââ¬Å"Cycle time is the measurement of elapsed time. Cycle time can be measured at the individual operational level or across the entire production processâ⬠(Using Effective Metrics to Measure Production Test Flow). Each entry of the process flow chart's efficiency can be evaluated by measuring the cycle time for each step.
